Come out to learn from and support this sustainable farming operation and
help celebrate our 100th event!
We are pleased that our 100th event will be hosted by Brewer Vegetable Farm in Greenwood, Mississippi. Major topics/activities will include, but not be limited to: “Soil Health and Amendments, Mulch/Bed Laying Demonstration, Insect/Disease Control and Sprayer Calibration, Poultry Production, Natural Resources, Conservation Service-EQIP Program, and a Farm Tour.”
Brewers Vegetable Farm started selling to the public in 2014. James Brewer
started farming on two acres and has grown to five acres. The farm raises tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, okra, peppers, and chickens, and sells eggs. Brewer has a high tunnel, where he grows vegetables for at least ten months each year. He also grows vegetables under mulch and drip irrigation. He raises chickens in order to have income year-round.

Most field day activities will be held outside, and participants are asked to follow safety protocols. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email. If you would like to attend

you will receive details on how to join via Zoom. We encourage everyone to get their vaccines and boosters if they are eligible – so we can safely increase in-person participation.

The farm is located at 17000 MS-7, Greenwood, MS 38930. (FROM I-55 NORTH OR SOUTH): Merge onto Highway 82 WEST for about 24 miles. Turn right on MS-7 for 3.9 miles. The farm is on the left. Dr. Frank Mrema, Forester/Mycology Specialist @ Alcon State University will be facilitating this hands-on workshop. The session will explain inoculation/seeding mushrooms into straw beds.
The participants will receive expert knowledge and be allowed to participate in the seeding process. Participants will also receive written material, and there will be a Q &A session.
